Service Times

Our Service Times

Mt. Olive offers two worship services each week including a Traditional/Liturgical Lutheran service and a Praise service with contemporary Christian music. We invite you to discover the type of service you are most comfortable with and join us.

Traditional

8:00am on Sundays
Traditional Pipe Organ

Our traditional service includes chanted liturgy and traditional hymns. The Lutheran Service Book is the guide for this service. The Adult Choir normally sings at the 8:00am service and our music director, Kathleen Thomerson, leads us on the pipe organ. Holy Communion is celebrated on the 1st and 3rd Sundays during the 8:00am service. The entire service is displayed on the two large screens in the front of the sanctuary for ease of participation.

Contemporary

10:30am on Sundays
Contemporary Guitar

The contemporary service includes spoken liturgy as well as pray and praise songs. The liturgy and songs are displayed on the two large screens in the front of the sanctuary. Karen Harris, our Praise Team Leader, leads the praise team in creating joyful songs to the Lord. Holy Communion is celebrated on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month during the 10:30am worship service. During Advent, the preparatory time before Christmas, we have Wednesday Worship times at 6:30pm. During Lent, the preparatory time before Easter, we have Wednesday worship at 6:30pm.

Education Hour & Sunday School

9:15am on Sundays
Sunday School

• Children ages 3 years to high school can attend Sunday School
• Tweens 5th & 6th grade
• All classes located in the Preschool wing
• 4 year olds can start attending KREW [Kid’s Really Experiencing Worship] during the late service
• 7th and 8th grade: Confirmation class
• High School: meet in their own Sunday School class

We currently offer two Adult Bible Classes, and both meet in the Fellowship Hall:

Pastor Meyer and a variety of other leaders lead one Bible class. May's Topic is: "Does the Bible Really say that?" It looks at a variety of sayings and determines whether they are from Scripture, and if not from where and how the saying applies to our lives. Join the lively discussion, the studying of the Word, and of course, coffee — yes both leaded and decaf.

Betty Bednarz leads a Scripture class in a room off the Fellowship Hall. They use reference Bibles which are available for everyone. You have an open invitation to try out this class. Click here for more details.

Children

9:00am - 12:00noon on Sundays
Nursery

Quality childcare is available for children through 3 years old during the worship times on Sunday mornings.

Four year old can start attending Sunday School during the Education Hour and KREW [Kid’s Really Experiencing Worship] during the late service.
